Metal Oxides Removal Agent

Biodegradable concentrated removal agent for metal oxides dust and residues

Removal agent for metal oxides residues

The Metal Oxides Removal Agent (MRA) stands out as a specialized solution tailored to eliminate metal oxides found on PV modules. Carefully designed as an eco-friendly biodegradable product, it handles the module’s components (ARC, silicone, and aluminum frame) delicately, offering ease of use and posing no risks for cleaning professionals. Chemitek’s MRA has been proven safe to use on PV panels by the international german laboratory ÉMI-TÜV Sud.

The MRA is readily biodegradable and ensures effectiveness in the removal of the contaminants without compromising the materials and components of the module, supporting structure and the roof (if applicable).

How does it work?

MRA is a concentrated solution that requires dilution with water before application to the contaminated solar modules. This innovative cleaning agent harnesses a unique combination technology to effectively dissolve and break down metal oxides. This potent formula deeply permeates the metal oxides, effectively softening and loosening them for easy removal.

Using the Metal Oxides Removal Agent is straightforward: dilute the product in water according to the recommended ratio, apply directly to the affected area, and the reaction will be instant. Then, brush the surface using a soft brush and finally rinse with soft water. Following these simple steps will leave solar panels looking revitalized in no time.

Certified for solar panels by ÉMI-TÜV Sud

The international laboratory ÉMI-TÜV Sud, recognized by their services of certification of solar panels, certified the MRA as safe for solar panels. This certification assures that the use of the MRA does not damage the panel’s components (e.g., aluminum frame, anti-reflective coating and silicone seals) and does not interfere with the light transmission.

Approved by PV manufacturers

The Metal Oxides Removal Agent has letters of conformity from the Top PV manufacturers:

  • Longi
  • JA Solar
  • Runergy

This product is a remediation agent and should be used as such. To prevent the recurrent use of the MRA on each cleaning, act preventively protect the modules by applying an antistatic coating such as our Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0 (ASA 2.0).

Benefits:

  • Easily removes metal oxides, such as rust and aluminium oxides, that are otherwise very hard to remove without scrapping and risking damaging the modules;
  • Developed specifically for PV modules;
  • No more scrapping - reacts instantly with the metal oxides particles and loosens them;
  • Tested by ÉMI-TÜV Sud - does not damage the ARC, silicone, the aluminium frame or any other component;
  • Readily biodegradable and environmentally friendly;
  • Act preventively and protect the modules, in case of frequent contamination, with one of our antistatic coatings to avoid the recurrent use of the MRA.

Suitable for the following cleaning methods:

  • Manual brush
  • Water fed pole
  • Electric Rotary Brush
  • Robot
  • Brush on tractor

FAQs
  • The surface of photovoltaic solar panels must be clean to ensure full operation and maximum performance. Any kind of soiling that may be on the surface of the solar module, be it dust, pollen, tree sap, bird droppings, sand, salt crystals, etc., will reduce the light transmission, i.e. reduce the amount of sunlight reaching the solar module cells, and thus the panel will produce less energy.

  • To the naked eye the panels may appear clean, however there will be soiling accumulated, even if it is just the air pollution itself. A simple test to see if your panel is in need of cleaning is to wipe the surface of the panel with a white cloth or cotton pad before the actual cleaning.

  • According to recent studies, when a solar panel is very dirty it can lose up to 50% of its performance compared to a clean solar panel. However, the Worldwide average energy loss due to soiling is 3 to 5%.

  • In fact, rain or wind will not keep the panels clean. Wind will carry particles that will settle on the panel and rainwater is not enough to remove any incrusted soiling such as bird droppings or pollen. Rainwater can even lead to the appearance of hotspots by accumulating the soiling on the bottom frame of the panels.

  • For the warranty on your solar panel to remain valid, you should use solar panel cleaners that meet the manufacturers' guidelines and are certified for solar panels, such as Solar Wash Protect.

    This means that the products need to be pH neutral, biodegradable and environmentally friendly and have been tested by international laboratories, such as ÉMI-TÜV Sud.

  • The recommended dilution for the Metal Oxides Removal Agent is between 1:5 (1 part product in 5 parts of water) and 1:10 (1 part product in 10 parts of water).

    To find the best dilution for a specific plant, we recommend starting the highest dilution (1:10) and checking how effective it is. If it is not effective, then keep reducing the dilution until you find the one that removes the contaminant with ease. Only on very extreme cases should you decrease the dilution below 1:5.
