AgroPV Water Softening Agent (AWS) is a biodegradable solution designed to treat hard and very hard water used in the cleaning of agrivoltaic (AgroPV) installations.

Chemitek’s AgroPV Solutions are the first and only range developed and independently tested specifically for AgroPV plants, and AWS ensures effective water treatment while preserving crops, soil, and surrounding ecosystems.

Hard water used in solar panel cleaning can leave limescale deposits and mineral residues on modules, reducing transparency and accelerating re-soiling. AWS works by capturing mineral ions such as calcium and magnesium, preventing these deposits and ensuring a spotless finish after cleaning.

Unlike conventional water softening products, AWS has been tested for agricultural environments, ensuring compatibility with plant development and soil conditions while maintaining optimal photovoltaic performance.

Based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) performed according to recognised standards, AGROPV Water Softening Agent is a CO₂ negative product. By replacing conventional, resource-intensive water treatment processes, it reduces overall emissions and offsets the impacts associated with its production.

How It Works

AWS reduces water hardness by capturing mineral ions present in hard water, preventing the formation of limescale stains and mineral residues on photovoltaic modules.

The product acts within approximately 20 minutes when added to a water tank. For real-time water softening, AWS can also be applied using a dosing pump and dynamic mixer (e.g., Dosatron).

It can be used together with other Chemitek cleaning products when required.
